Our Services

Clinical services of the Integrative Medicine Clinic (IMC) are provided through the collaboration of healthcare professionals from HKUMed's School of Clinical Medicine (encompassing a range of medical specialties) and the School of Chinese Medicine. Patients will receive joint consultation and professional advice from Chinese medicine and Western medicine practitioners at the IMC regarding their personalised treatment plan and coordinated care.

Type of Services

Orthopaedics and Traumatology in Chinese Medicine refers to the corresponding structures of tendons and bones in Western medicine's musculoskeletal system. Bone diseases and soft tissue injuries fall within the scope of Chinese Medicine Orthopaedics and Traumatology. In terms of treatment methods, Chinese medicine emphasises a holistic approach, using topical medications, acupuncture, massage, and bone-setting techniques as primary treatments. Internal medicine prescriptions may also be given as needed to regulate the flow of Qi and blood in the affected area. Common treatment methods of Chinese Medicine Orthopaedics and Traumatology include the following: 


1. Chinese Manual Therapy: Tui Na, bone-setting


2. Acupuncture & Moxibustion: Techniques such as filiform needle therapy, electroacupuncture, auricular
acupuncture, dermal needle therapy, cupping, and moxibustion


3. Chinese Herbal Medicine: Internal and topical application, fumigation or soaking
